Today was Jack's first day of school. He did so great! Brian and I both left work and took him. We were able to walk him in the building, wait with him in line, walk him to his classroom, and wave goodbye. He was so brave (I was not but thankfully I had a pair of sunglasses and Brian). He would not admit to being excited but I think he was at least a little bit. I am always able to pick him up and Grant and I met him outside the building to walk him home today. On the walk I tried to get some info out of him but in true Jack fashion he was more annoyed with me and my questions. I did get him to tell me they played play-dough, colored a picture, and read a book. He told me he was bummed because the paper Mrs. Heberlie gave him to color on was not big enough to draw a football field. He was quite grumpy on the walk home and I finally asked him why he was so crabby. He told me he was crabby because "He had to do a lot of work today." I love it! That is so Jack! As the evening went out we ordered pizza to celebrate the first day of school and had some ice cream from the ice cream man! We also got to play outside before it was time for baths, movie, and bed. Brian and I laid with him in bed and he told us a little bit more about his day. It turns out he sat with two girls at his tables but he does not know their names, he had to tell Mrs. Heberlie his name twice, she asked him what his favorite food was and he told her chicken nuggets, he went to the bathroom in the school bathroom, saw his friends from our street in the hallway, and Mr. T the Principal came by the room to say hello while they were all sitting on the rug. We asked him if Mrs. Heberlie was a good teacher and he told us it was to soon to tell! Ha! I feel like he has grown up in one day! Crazy!
Jesus thank you for Jack, thank you for Mrs. Heberlie. Help him to make friends, be kind to others, and have a desire to learn. Above all thank you for Jack!
