Here is a really cool email that everyone in my school got today...it is in regards to the teacher in the previous post.
Huge Surprise: the PET scan showed that there is only one small tumor in the liver, even though the CT scan showed two. Plus there is apparently no cancer anywhere else in her body, which was shocking and very unusual, since breast cancer just doesn't do that. The strange course of events that led up the discovery of this single tumor is even weirder and the doctors today could not explain parts of that whole mystery - they just shook their heads and said they didn't even know, but they were glad it was discovered. So the situation is very different from what it was just one week ago, and that changes everything, Glory to God.
The oncologists have never had a patient with this situation before. In fact, her case will be presented at tow or more cancer conferences, and at least 20 doctors in the St. Louis area will be following the course of events, since it is so unusual. We just laughed, knowing that it is the kindness and mercy of our wonderful God.
The initial plan is to remove the tumor and then do aggressive 4 months or so of chemo, followed by ongoing hormonal therapy to give her a much longer cancer free prognosis. We now have a much more positive prognosis and we know our path will grow brighter and fuller until the full day.
We still have a long road ahead of us, with surgery, chemo, and more drugs, so we appreciate your continued prayer support. But tonight we are glorifying God for His incredible acts of kindness and power towards us, and trusting Him for the future.
How cool is that letter - sent to over 200 people today.
I love the fact that I can't wrap my mind around so many things in this world but this is easy to wrap my mind around: God is bigger than even CANCER!
